WE ARE THE
SOCIETY FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF MATERIAL AND PROCESS ENGINEERING
AT THE UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON
Our goal as an Engineering Student Organization is to provide an opportunity to our fellow students in engineering, optimizing, and processing fiber composites. With the benefit of generous donations from our partners in the industry, we have the privilege of working with industry-grade prepreg and processing techniques.
As our goal is purely to enrich our members engineering experience, we do not have an application process. The only requirement to join us at our meetings is to be ready to learn and grow as a community. Although most of our members are Materials Science and Engineering majors, or those with interest in MSE, anyone from any major is welcome to join us.
In the beginning of each year, we familizarize new members with fiber composites and their related processing methods. Towards the middle and end of each year, we ramp up into our competition season to prepare for the Student Bridge Competition at the annual SAMPE conference. This provides students with an opportunity to work through iterative design of composite structures and compete against both national and international schools.
